Heritage oil portraiture

Jeanna Zitting

Every face carries a quiet story, waiting to be remembered.

Painted portraits and museum-grade fine-art prints, made to be held close and passed down. Each piece is a tender vessel for memory, a life once lived, still breathing on linen.

The heart of the work

On remembrance

Every face carries a quiet story, waiting to be remembered. To me, a portrait is not merely a reflection; it is a living thread woven through time, connecting past and present with gentle reverence. When voices soften into memory and photographs lose their clarity, a painted portrait continues to breathe, holding within it the warmth of a life once lived. It whispers of where we began, of the hands that shaped us, and of the love that still lingers, unseen but deeply felt. My hope is that each piece becomes a cherished heirloom, a tender vessel for memory that endures across generations.

I paint with the belief that those who came before us should never fade into unfamiliarity. Their presence, their quiet strength, and the poetry of their everyday lives deserve to be held close. In each portrait, I seek not only to capture a likeness, but to preserve a soul's gentle imprint, the essence that continues to echo within us. Through timeless, heartfelt work, I strive to honor the beauty of remembrance and the enduring bond between who we are and those who came before.

About Jeanna

A painter of the people we came from

Jeanna Zitting is a fine-art portrait painter working primarily in oil on linen. She came to portraiture through a simple, tender conviction: that the faces of those who came before us deserve to be seen, remembered, and kept.

Her work draws on the quiet traditions of classical portraiture, warm light, patient layering, an attention to the small truths of a face. Each painting begins in listening: to a family's stories, to an old photograph, to the particular way a life was lived.

From these original paintings, Jeanna offers museum-grade prints so that the people we love can be held close in more than one home, across more than one generation.
