The Work of Remembrance

A Painted Portrait Continues to Breathe

Every face carries a quiet story, waiting to be remembered. To me, a portrait is not merely a reflection; it is a living thread woven through time, connecting past and present with gentle reverence. When voices soften into memory and photographs lose their clarity, a painted portrait continues to breathe, holding within it the warmth of a life once lived. It whispers of where we began, of the hands that shaped us, and of the love that still lingers, unseen but deeply felt. My hope is that each piece becomes a cherished heirloom, a tender vessel for memory that endures across generations.

I paint with the belief that those who came before us should never fade into unfamiliarity. Their presence, their quiet strength, and the poetry of their everyday lives deserve to be held close. In each portrait, I seek not only to capture a likeness, but to preserve a soul's gentle imprint, the essence that continues to echo within us. Through timeless, heartfelt work, I strive to honor the beauty of remembrance and the enduring bond between who we are and those who came before.

About Jeanna

The Hand Behind the Canvas

Jeanna Zitting is a portrait painter working in oil on linen, drawn to the faces that hold a family's memory. Her portraits begin in listening: to the stories a family carries, to the light held in an old photograph, to the small gestures that make a person unmistakably themselves.

She paints from her studio, where she has spent years studying the quiet dignity of ordinary lives, and returns again and again to the belief that those who came before us deserve to be held close. Her work has found its way into homes as heirlooms, passed with care from one generation to the next.

Each commission and each print is offered in that same spirit of reverence: a way to keep a beloved face present, warm, and near.
